Our New Home

I wanted to show off our new apartment. I am pretty happy with it, not as big as last year, but I think it is comfortable and cozy. All of the Americans live in the same apartment building so that will be fun. The pictures are pretty self explanatory I think, but I do want to point out that we do have a dishwasher and for the first time ever....a dryer!!! Both in great working condition. Drake says he doesn't know what I am going to do with all my time now. More time to blog I guess.

I have a quick story to share. Pretty embarassing, but I feel like I have SO many embarassing stories, I am happy to share:) Drake has been gone the past two days, and I have been taking a quick 20 minute drive to Guilianova to go for a run along the Adriatic shoreline. While I was running today I needed to use the restroom, drank too much water in the car. I never try to use the bathroom in public over here as European standards are not the same as ours in the States. Anyways I saw a public one near the water, similar to an outhouse pretty nasty and smelled horrible as pretty much all bathrooms over here do, but I was happy to see it was flushing and they even provided toilet paper (I was prepared regardless, I have learned to carry toilet paper everywhere). Anyways, I wanted to quickly go because I am in the middle of my run, as I open the door to leave I realize I am locked in. Jiggling the handle and using my body weight to push against the door I was not in any luck, it was not budging at all. My heart starts racing and I begin to panic. Telling myself to "stay calm, you can figure this out" I looked all around there was a vent up top. I know I am little but me fitting through was not going to happen. I started pounding on the door and yelling for someone, but I didn't think anyone would here me. I felt like I was in there for an hour but I think someone finally rescued me after about 10 minutes. I can only imagine what they thought when they opened the door. "Stupid American girl" can't open a door. I was very grateful to be out and in the fresh air. What I have learned from this experience... I need to carry my phone with me at all times, priority should probably be that before the toilet paper.

Oh my gosh, Gin, that sounds awful! When I was reading, I was half laughing, half worried for you!! Glad someone finally came to your rescue, you poor thing!!

The new place is adorable! Looks like you have really made it your own; I love the bright colors, and thought your placemats were especially cool.

Missing you tons.

Yay a dishwasher and a dryer! I was ecstatic when we had both in Novara two seasons ago. The only thing I found was that our dryer didn't do a very good job on delicate clothes...and I hated dumping the water out after each load! Good luck this season and thanks for the blog posts, I love reading them!
