Back at it

Hello to all my fellow followers. I'm sure you missed me :) I have been in Italy for about 2 days now, and I kind of feel like I haven't left. Summer went way too fast but we thoroughly enjoyed every minute of it, getting to settle more in our home, seeing family get married, and of course and most important, getting to spend time with you. It was hard to leave, but this is our life! Time to start a new adventure.

This year and possibly next, (signed a two year contract) Drake will be playing for Teramo. For those who want to follow along here is there website http://www.teramobasket.it/ . We are about 35 minutes east of L'Aquila. L'Aquila is were the earthquake was last year fyi. That made me a little nervous, but I figure what are the chances of an earthquake happening in the same place more than once right? And we live in a relatively new building so that is good.

Anyways, like I said I have been in Italy for about 2 days, but have only spent 9 hours with Drake. My trip over was quite stressful to say the least. I missed my connecting flight to Rome, and ended up losing my luggage as well. I hate Rome's airport and I don't even feel bad saying it. After waiting at baggage claim for about 2 1/2 hours I decided to give up and leave. I would ask customer service what I should do and they told me to keep waiting. Every minute I was waiting I knew someone from the team was waiting to give me a ride to Teramo. I felt horrible keeping them, but knew that if I left there was slim to no chance I would be seeing my bags anytime soon. (A wife last year lost her bags on the way over and it took her about 3 1/2 weeks to get them back). "Pino" was the individual giving me a ride, and he ended up waiting about 6 hours so I felt horrible, but he was the nicest guy kept saying "no worries." So I finally got into Teramo Friday night at 8:30 to see the end of practice, and Drake left the next morning at 10.

We had been calling trying to track my bags that morning, and discovered that my bags had arrived in Rome. The individual I talked to said the bags would be shipped back to Madrid (don't ask me why) the next day so "it was very important I came to Rome to retrieve them". I left right after Drake to go back to Rome to rescue my bags. I was a little nervous to drive by myself not knowing where I was going, but I am happy to say that I did a great job, mission is accomplished.

I have spent the day unpacking and cleaning. I am very happy with our apartment. I will post pictures shortly. Drake will be home tonight so of course I am looking forward to that. So first post not the best but that is all I have been up to since arriving. Ciao a tutti!

Yay! You are updating again! Sorry about your bags. And hey, you may think this is funny. When I showed Josh that picture of me with dark hair he said, "You look like Gini." And then YOU say, "I'd stay away from this look." Hmm.... maybe I'll just do the Kate Gosselin cut instead. Did you like how I broke into your house before you left? I wanted to steal some of your shoes but they're like, half the size of my feet. Tell Drake I say hi. And keep posting! I want to see your apartment.
